Gifted & Talented Program

Each school district in Texas is expected to follow the compliance requirements of the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students.  All campuses in Sinton ISD provide screening, identification and services for GT students.

Sinton ISD Gifted and Talented (GT) services are designed to provide an academically challenging education for learners who perform or show the potential to perform at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to other learners of the same age, experience, or environment and who:

  • Exhibit high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area
  • Possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
  • Excel in a specific academic field (mathematics or language arts)

GT Qualification and Assessment

All kindergarten learner are automatically assessed in January to determine whether they qualify for Gifted and Talented Services.  All other learners will be tested upon nominations from school staff, parents or community members. Notification will be published during the nomination period.  After the nomination period, learners will be tested with permission from their parents/guardians.  Once testing is completed and scores are received, letters will be sent home. Once a learner is accepted into the GT program,  the student will remain in the program until the student graduates or a parent/guardian removes the learner with one exception.  Students that enter the program prior to 5th grade, will need to be retested in the 5th grade for additional GT program consideration.

If you have any questions about Sinton ISD’s GT Program, please contact your child’s campus.
