What is Dual Credit?

Collaboration between Del Mar College and Sinton Independent School District has led to a Dual Credit program that allows high school students to simultaneously earn high school and college credits before they graduate.

How do I apply?

1. Complete application w/ SHS Counselor
2. Complete Apply Texas application for Del Mar College
3. Satisfactorily complete the TSIA (sign ups available through SHS & Del Mar)
4. Current Meningitis Vaccination (less than 5 yrs old)
5. New DC students must attend a Dual Credit Program Parents Night prior to enrollment

FASFA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid

FASFA opens OCTOBER 1 – ALL SENIORS MUST COMPLETE THEIR FAFSA!

The FASFA is a form that is prepared anually by current and prospective college students in the United Sstates to determine eligibility for student financial aid.

To expedite the process, students should create their FSA ID pin prior to the FAFSA webinars.

What should I be doing to prepare for college?
College Bound Freshman and Sophomores:

Study and prepare for college admission exams.

Take the PSAT, TSI, and ASVAB

Visit the web sites of your top college choices and request admission and scholarship information.

Talk to your parents about college costs and plan college visits.

Make sure you understand the admission requirements for your top college choices.

Study and keep your grades up!

Be in school. Attendance is the key to success.

College Bound Juniors:

Take the PSAT in the fall.

Take the ACT and/or SAT in the spring

Visit the web sites of your top college choices and request admission and scholarship information.

Talk to your parents about college costs and plan college visits.

Make sure you understand the admission requirements for your top college choices.

Compile a resume and start obtaining letters of recommendation for scholarships and applications

Check with your counselor to make sure you are on track and have required credits for graduation

July 1st- first day to start applying for early admission

College Bound Seniors:

Be aware of scholarship and admission application deadlines!

Know how to request transcripts

Visit with your counselor to ensure credits

Visit the College and Career webpage to help you with the application process

Check the status of your submitted admission application through the college website.

Research financial aid and be prepared to submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon after Oct. 1st as possible.

All students and their parents are welcome to visit the Career Center for assistance with the college admission and financial aid process.
