Student of the Month ~ December

Emma Swanson is a 6th grade student at SMS. Emma’s teachers describe her as having a great attitude towards learning and trying new skills. When work gets difficult, Emma’s ability to work through problems and use her critical thinking skills is because she is very disciplined and self motivated. Emma excels in both independent and group activities and has excellent communication qualities for collaborative work.  She is often chosen to lead a team and demonstrates the qualities of a remarkable leader.  She is confident and perseveres in all settings, but also knows how to support others in their leadership roles. She is proactive in seeking help when needed and consistently produces high quality work. Emma exhibits all of the qualities needed to be an outstanding student.  Emma earned all A’s for the first 9 weeks of school and is enrolled in honors classes and the introduction to engineering class.  Congratulations Emma. Well deserved!  

 

Xzavier Reyna is an 8th grade student at SMS.  Xzavier is described by his teachers as being a delightful young man. Each day, he is respectful, engaged in learning, and helpful towards his peers. He is the only student in History class who offers to clean up the work space in the classroom at the end of a lesson. He consistently maintains focus, stays on task, engages in discussions, and contributes to the learning environment.  His willingness to help those around him is marked by kindness and grace. Xzavier exhibits patience, rarely becoming frustrated, and shows desire to excel in all subjects.  Xzavier earned all A’s for the first 9 weeks of school and is currently enrolled in all honors classes, including Spanish and Algebra, which are high school credit courses.  Xzavier is also an athlete, successfully splitting his time between academics and sports.  He goes above and beyond in everything he does, never settling for anything other than his best. Xzavier encourages those around him to be better too. Great work Xzavier!
